Priorities and funded actions:

Objectives
– Supporting and strengthening civil society locally, regionally and nationally so as to involve it more in the field of security;
– Supporting and strengthening civil society locally, regionally and nationally so as to enable it to play a greater role in preventing electoral violence in the country or countries where it operates

Priorities 
Lot 1 Strengthening the involvement of civil society in the field of security in nine countries in the Sahel region and the Lake Chad Basin:
– Supporting and assisting the involvement of civil society and support for the design and implementation of the Security Sector Reform process, making it more inclusive and geared to people’s security needs;
– Supporting civil society initiatives and projects promoting partnerships and cooperation between key security players locally, regionally and nationally;
– Supporting initiatives to improve relations between security forces and people

Lot 2 Increasing the involvement of civil society in preventing electoral violence in eight countries in coastal West Africa and the Lake Tchad Basin:
– Identifying areas of potential violence and facilitating local and national efforts to address and prevent violence;
– Supporting and assisting stakeholders (communities, NGOs, media, electoral bodies, security forces and authorities) in building their capacity to initiate and manage electoral processes peacefully;
– Supporting all forms of peaceful and constructive communication and mobilisation

Among financed actions
Lot 1:
– Capacity-building for civil society organisations, networks and communities on issues relating to security (training, exchanges, advocacy), to promote greater involvement in designing or implementing SSR, in partnership with national authorities and security and justice forces, as well as other national, regional and international stakeholders;
– Support for civil society initiatives aiming to increase the involvement of women in SSR, make the process more gender-sensitive or strengthen the capacity of actors in the field of security and justice to address and respond to gender-based violence;
– Support for advocacy or monitoring initiatives aimed at promoting respect for the principles of the rule of law and human rights by actors in the field of security 

Lot 2:
– Strengthening the capacity of civil society organisations to promote greater involvement in designing or implementing appropriate crisis awareness, prevention and preparedness measures and appropriate communication channels with security forces;
– Support for early warning, monitoring and prevention initiatives relating to election-related violence;
– Support for civil society initiatives aiming to increase the involvement of women in preventing and resolving election-related violence
