This call for proposals aims to co-fund transnational and/national projects that contribute to enhancing the rights of persons suspected or accused of crime, in line with the specific objective to facilitate effective access to justice for all.

Priorities and funded actions:

Priorities
– Contributing to the correct implementation and effective monitoring of the Directive 2013/48/EU on the right of access to a lawyer in criminal proceedings
– Contributing to the correct implementation and effective monitoring of the Commission Recommendation C(2013) 8179/2 on the right to legal aid in criminal proceedings
– Contributing to the correct implementation and effective monitoring of the Commission Recommendation C(2013) 8178/2 on safeguards for vulnerable persons suspected or accused in criminal proceedings
– Contributing to the correct implementation and effective monitoring of the Directive 2010/64/EU on the right to interpretation and translation in criminal proceedings
– Contributing to the correct implementation and effective monitoring of the Directive 2012/13/EU on the right to information in criminal proceedings
– Further improving procedural rights of defendants (other than existing EU instruments), including through judicial remedies
– Limitation of the use of pre-trial detention
