KIC – EIT Raw Materials – KAVA Upscaling Projects – 2020
Funds for: innovation projects based on validated technologies that need additional step(s) for up-scaling, demonstration or implementation

Priorities and funded actions:

* Upscaling projects based on validated technologies that need additional step(s) for up-scaling, demonstration or implementation;
* Bringing a technology to market, as a product, service or process; 
* Creating a unique collaborative environment for breakthrough innovations and radically new ways to address raw materials challenges

* Generating a significant impact on European industrial competitiveness, innovation capacity and human capital ;
* Empowering students and entrepreneurs driving towards the circular economy and the contribution towards the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals ;
* Bringing validated technologies to a high Technology Readiness Level (at least TRL 7);
* Bringing an educational component to these technological projects;
* Developing Lighthouse projects as large-scale and long-term coordinated innovated initiatives that address critical and specific raw materials challenges for Europe;
* Having an educational component, for example, the inclusion of PhD and/or Masters projects, internships, contribution to demand-driven Lifelong Learning courses

Among financed actions
* Projects with a technology already at TRL 5;
* Water treatment and monitoring (e.g., monitoring water quality, treatment of drinking water and waste water);
* Materials, waste and resources (e.g., separation and sorting of solid waste, recycling of materials, end-oflife products and chemicals, biomass-based products);
* Energy (e.g., renewable energy, energy generated from waste, energy efficiency);

Additional information
* This call for proposal is an open call for proposals

* Initial duration of the action: between 1 and 4 years

* Eligibility:
– Be a legal person;
– Be a KIC Core or Associate Partners;
– The project consortium must include KIC partners from at least 2 sides of the knowledge triangle (education, research, industry/business – as defined in the Partner registration documentation);
– The project consortium must consist of a minimum of 3 KIC Core or Associate Partners, coming from a minimum of 2 different Innovation Hubs and a minimum of 2 different countries;
– The co-funding contributed by the project consortium should be minimum 30% of the total funding (NOT 30% of the EIT funding)

– Non-members are eligible to apply only if they submit an EIT RawMaterials e.V. membership application by 1 July 2019;
– The project cannot have one partner (including its Linked Third Parties) as the Work Package leader in all Work Packages;
– In line with EIT requirements, all proposals must include a ‘Dissemination and Communication Plan’ Work Package, following the communications guidelines included in the document ‘Education Proposal: Guidance and Template for Complementary Information’;
– All proposals must include a Go-to-market Strategy Work Package;
– All proposals must include a ‘Project Management’ Work Package
