This call for proposals aims at contributing to the development and implementation of EU environmental policy and legislation

Priorities and funded actions:

This call for proposals is broken down along two priorities:
– (a) Information, communication and awareness raising campaigns in line with the priorities of the 7th Environment Action Programme
– (b) Activities in support of effective control process as well as measures to promote compliance in relation to Union environmental legislation, and in support of information systems and information tools on the implementation of Union environmental legislation

Objectives
* Under priority (a):
– To promote awareness raising on environmental matters, including generating public and stakeholder support of Union policy-making in the field of the environment, and to promote knowledge on sustainable development and new patterns for sustainable consumption
– To support communication, management, and dissemination of information in the field of the environment, and to facilitate knowledge sharing on successful environmental solutions and practice, including by developing cooperation platforms among stakeholders and training

* Under priority (b):
– To promote and contribute to more effective compliance with and enforcement of Union environmental legislation, in particular by promoting the development and dissemination of best practices and policy approaches
– To promote better environmental governance by broadening stakeholder involvement, including NGOs, in consultation on and implementation of policy

Among financed actions

* Types of projects: Information, awareness, and dissemination projects

* For projects on information, communication and awareness raising campaigns (priority a)

Water
– Awareness-raising and training on phasing out landfilling of recyclable or recoverable waste
– Information campaigns encouraging behavioural changes on key waste-related issues

Resource Efficiency including soil and forests, and green and circular economy
– Awareness raising and development of guidance material for European users of genetic resources, in order to facilitate compliance with the requirements of the Regulation on Access and Benefit Sharing, as well as support activities for European collections of genetic resources
– Awareness-raising campaigns promoting sustainable consumption with a focus on food waste, optimal storage of food and/or on the consumption of soil and land resources
– Awareness-raising and active intervention information campaigns on the economic benefits of resource efficiency, including soil
– Capacity building campaigns to allow for coordination and guidance on relevant and EU representative forest and forest fire information

Air quality and emissions, including urban environment
– Awareness-raising and training on air quality in urban areas and its health effects
– Development and demonstration of integrated systems providing easy access to publicly available information on industrial installations, including permits, emission data and inspection reports

Environment and Health including Chemicals and Noise
– Awareness raising of citizens and consumers about hazard information on chemicals in articles, as well as about the safe use of chemicals in products bearing a safety warning label
– Awareness-raising of companies about REACH-related duties
– Communication campaings on noise

Nature and Biodiversity
– Information and awareness raising campaigns on Natura 2000, on the EU Biodiversity Strategy, on large carnivores, on invasive alien species, as well as on Green Infrastructures

Governance and enforcement
– Awareness-raising and training on access to justice in the field of environment
– Awareness-raising on the Environmental Liability Directive (ELD)
– Awareness raising and development of guidance material for researchers, SMEs, and public bodies regarding their duties as European users of genetic resources

* For projects in support of effective control process as well as measures to promote compliance (priority b)

Enforcement, inspections and surveillance
– Projects aimed at increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of environmental inspections and surveillance, through
– Projects aimed at increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of activities aimed at combating environmental crime

Sharing of best practice
– Projects supporting the exchange of best practice of Natura 2000 site managers
– Projects promoting the exchange of best practices in relation to air quality legislation
– Exchange of knowledge and good practice on green public procurement (GPP) between public authorities
– Projects enhancing science-policy integration through the transfer of results and/or best practices in support of chemicals legislation and of the Directive on the protection of animals used for scientific purposes
– Projects aimed at developing and supporting the role of networks of volunteers

Promoting non-judicial conflict resolution
– Projects aimed at promoting non-judicial conflict resolution as a means of finding solutions in the environment field
