This call for proposals aims to contribute to the development and implementation of EU policy and legislation in the area of nature and biodiversity.

Priorities and funded actions:

This call for proposals foresees two distinct sectors of projects
– Nature projects
– Biodiversity projects

Objectives

* LIFE Nature projects
– To support the further development, implementation and management of the Natura 2000 network in particular by applying, developing, testing and demonstrating approaches, best practices and solutions

* LIFE Biodiversity projects
– To implement the EU Biodiversity Strategy to 2020 targets and actions

Thematic priorities

* LIFE Nature projects
– Activities aimed at improving the conservation status of habitats and species, including marine habitat and species, and bird species, of Union interest
– Activities in support of the Natura 2000 network bio-geographical seminars
– Integrated approaches for the implementation of prioritised action frameworks

* LIFE Biodiversity projects
– Activities aimed at contributing to maintain and restore ecosystems and their services
– Activities aimed at contributing to increase the contribution of agriculture and forestry to biodiversity, to ensure the sustainable use of fisheries resources and to combat Invasive Alien Species

– Mapping and assessing of ecosystems and their services
– Innovative management schemes
– Eradicating or controlling established invasive alien species
– Innovative ways of direct or indirect financing for Biodiversity-related activities
– The preservation or restoration of ecosystems for the benefit of human health
