Priorities and funded actions:

Objectives
* Explore emerging technological directions in order to analyse and exploit their disruptive potential on the defence sector;
* Demonstrate a new technological paradigm within the scope of one or more of the following topics:
– Autonomous positioning, navigation and timing;
– Artificial Intelligence (AI) for defence;
– Quantum technologies for defence applications;
– Long-range effects;
– Augmenting soldier capacity

Priorities
* Autonomous positioning, navigation and timing (PNT):
– Develop promising complementary based on as autonomous PNT sources that could be used without the need for position or timing updates;
– Integrate relevant factors into considered solutions such as low drift, small scale, power-efficiency and integrability

* Artifical Intelligence (AI) for defence:
– Accelerate the cycle of military operations and deeply influence the military practices through the development of new processes in critical fields such as cyber defence, C4ISR systems, intelligent and autonomous unmanned systems and swarms, electronic warfare, data fusion

* Quantum technologies for defence applications:
– Develop quantum technologies in critical militaries fields such as quantum information processing, quantum communication, quantum key distribution and quantum sensing technologies

* Long-range effects:
– Develop radical solutions for cost-efficient long-range precision strike such as electromagnetic railguns, guided ammunition and hypervelocity projectiles

* Augmenting soldier capacity:
– Develop solutions for augmenting the capacity of the soldiers to perform their tasks by using exoskeletons and robotic systems and augmented reality for increased situational awareness

* Studies;
* Technology development and integration;
* Testing and validation on a small-scale prototype in a laboratory or simulated environment;
* Producing plans and arrangements or designs for new, altered or improved products, processes or services;
* Large-scale prototyping, testing, demonstrating, or piloting

Additional information
* This call for proposals is an open call for proposals

* Initial duration of the project: up to 24 months

* Eligibility
– Be a legal entity;
– Be established in a European Union Member States, OCTs or Norway;

– The consortium must involve at least three legal entities. Each of the three must be established in a different EU Member State or Norway. All three legal entities must be independent of each other;

– Proposals must intend to target TRL 3 (experimental proof of concept) and TRL4 (technology validated in lab);

– Proposals should include a high-level description of the key performance indicators (KPIs) which have to be delivered within 6 months after the start of the project;
– Regarding the sub-topic “AI” and “Augmenting soldier capacity”, proposals should include an assessment of the ethical, legal and societal impact of the proposed solutions
