The hosts for this year’s event are TV personality and musician Jools Holland and Dutch singer/actress Birgit Schuurman. During the show, following a vote across Europe, the winner of the public choice award will also be announced.

This year’s award show – including performances by most of the winning acts – will be broadcast live on YouTube on 9 January at 18:00, by Dutch National Television (NTR) on 19 January and will also receive European coverage through TV channels and radio stations.

The 2013 EBBA winners, announced on 22 October 2012 by Androulla Vassiliou, European Commissioner for Education, Culture, Multilingualism and Youth, are:
Nabiha (Denmark), Ewert and The Two Dragons (Estonia), French Films (Finland), C2C (France), Emeli Sandé (Great Britain), Of Monsters and Men (Iceland), Dope D.O.D. (The Netherlands), Amor Electro (Portugal), Juan Zelada (Spain) and Niki and the Dove (Sweden).

Now in their 10th anniversary year, the EBBAs are funded by the EU Culture Programme to encourage young artists to market themselves outside their home country. The award is organised by Eurosonic Noorderslag in The Netherlands, a festival attracting around 300 artists and thousands of industry professionals, in partnership with the European Broadcasting Union. The EBBA are for European singers and bands making pop, rock, soul or electronic music. To qualify, their first album has to have been a success outside their home country. Winners are chosen based on sales, airplay and votes from radio stations and festivals in Europe.
