The purpose of this preparatory action, voted for by the EP, is to support and nurture on-going policy reflection and progress in strengthening the role that culture plays in external relations. Running until mid-2014, this process will include a comprehensive mapping exercise and a consultation process on the strategic role of culture in EU external relations, which will converge into a final conference where conclusions and recommendations will be made regarding a strategic approach to mobilising the potential of culture in EU external relations
