The Commission adopted today the 2014-2020 cross-border cooperation programme for the “Greater Region”, worth €223 million, with €140 million from the European Regional Development Fund.
The Greater region (Grande Région/Groβregion) comprises the border area of Belgium, France, Germany and Luxembourg with a population of over 11 million people. The core objective of the programme is to improve cross-border labour mobility through investments in transport, education and training. The programme also aims to boost the competitiveness of local SMEs by increasing investments in Research and Innovation, to preserve the region’s environment and to improve access to social and health care services.
