The 4th of August 2016, the European Commission has announced that it would help Nigeria, Niger and Cameroon with an additional 12.5 million euro in humanitarian aid in reaction to the Lake Chad Basin crisis.

The repartition will be: 9 million euro for the people in Nigeria, 2 million in Cameroon and 1.5 million euro in Niger. This new funding will help these countries to deal with the displacement of millions of people due to the destabilizing actions in the Lake Chad region from the terrorist group Boko Haram from northern Nigeria.

This aid will complete the 58 million euro that has already been allocated to the Lake Chad Basin crisis. This new help brings the overall EU humanitarian help to more than 70 million euro for the region in 2016.
