The Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) Energy Info Day for the 2014 Call for Proposals will take place on Friday, 23 May 2014 in the Charlemagne building (170 rue de la Loi), room Gasperi, in Brussels, Belgium. The event will present the priorities for the 2014 CEF Energy call for proposals – the first call under the new Connecting Europe Facility.
The Connecting Europe Facility was set up for the period 2014-2020 to provide the EU financial assistance to projects of common interest in transport, energy and telecommunications infrastructure sectors, in order to accelerate investment in the trans-European networks and to exploit potential synergies between these sectors.
In the energy sector, CEF will, in particular, support projects in electricity and gas in order to achieve the following objectives:
– increasing competitiveness by promoting the further integration of the internal energy market and the interoperability of electricity and gas networks across borders
– enhancing Union security of energy supply
– contributing to sustainable development and protection of the environment, including by the integration of energy from renewable sources and by the development of smart energy networks
In addition to the information on the priorities of the 2014 call(s) for proposals and the policy context, the Info Day will also provide participants with practical information about how to prepare a successful proposal, as well as other background information relevant to the application and evaluation process.
