A 68 million euro loans of the EIB will finance 40 new electric trains in the province of Naples. This project is also supported by the European Strategic Investment Fund (EFSI), the main pillar of the Investment Plan for Europe.

The new fleet will be deployed on the six lines of the Circumvesuviana, the railway network serving Naples and the province of Naples, and will contribute to significantly reducing traffic congestion and pollution throughout the area.

The development of this railway network will also help to improve the daily life of the population of Naples and promote the cultural life and economic development of the region. The European Commission hopes to launch more projects of this type, which bring development objectives and climate action together.
