The Commission has authorised 13 Member States to provide up to €5.2 billion in public support for a major project of common European interest (PIIEC) called IPCEI Hy2Use. 35 projects will be supported by 29 companies, including SMEs. The projects are scheduled to end in 2036.
The objectives of IPCEI are:
- To support research and innovation
- To support early industrial deployments and construction of relevant infrastructure in the hydrogen value chain
The actions supported by the IPCEI Hy2Use project are:
- Construction of hydrogen infrastructure (electrolysers for the production, storage and transport of hydrogen)
- The development of innovative and more sustainable technologies for the integration of hydrogen in industrial processes in several sectors (steel, cement, glass).
The project will focus on hydrogen from renewable and low-carbon energies.
