EU Soil Mission call has 16 winning projects

The European Soil Mission, funded by Horizon Europe, has a budget of 95 million euro. The call closed on September 27, 2022 and has received 78 proposals since its launch, with only 16 winners selected.

The call aims to preserve and increase scientific knowledge on the vital function of soils across Europe. To this end, it aims to bring together managers, consumers and companies so that they are better informed and can work together for effective actions for soil health.  The call has 10 topics on improving soil biodiversity or supporting soil restoration and decontamination.

The 16 winners selected must now be assessed by Commission experts. The result is expected for December 2022 and implementation of the projects is expected to begin in June 2023.
