Extension of the European Fund for Strategic Investments

publié le 12 December 2017

Today, members of the European Parliament have adopted the regulation to extend and strengthen the European Fund for Strategic Investments until 2020, allowing the financing of projects throughout the EU. This fund will try to mobilize up to 500 billion euro.

It was proposed by the President of the European Commission Jean-Claude Juncker in response to the decline in investments during the crisis. Indeed, for lack of funding, many promising but risky projects had been put in difficulty.
By committing to cover some of the losses that may be caused by certain projects, the Fund, managed by the European Investment Bank, has made many entrepreneurial ideas less risky for investors.
