Following intense floods, the European Union offers financial aid to Latvia from the EU Solidarity Fund 

The amount of the European aid for Latia arises to 17,7 million euro. After intense floods in the summer and autumn, 2017 Latvia has to face with widespread damages to essential water, road and railway infrastructure and destroyed crops.

The EU Solidarity Fund will cover some of the expenses to cope with this emergency and it could be used for some of the costs of emergency services, temporary accommodation, clean-up operations and the protection of cultural heritage, in order to relieve the financial burden borne by national authorities in the wake of natural disasters.
