The Commissioner for Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Management Christos Stylianides has recognized the necessity to operate in Venezuela currently suffering from several socio-economic crises.
To do so, the Commission has allocated additional humanitarian assistance of 5 million euro to help those most in need. This, in addition to the humanitarian assistance, totals to 34 million euro for the crisis in 2018.
In order to manage this action, the EU intends to open a humanitarian office in Caracas. The main goal will be to provide emergency healthcare, access to safe water and sanitation as well as to education in order to address the population’s protection, shelter, food and nutritional needs.
