Italy and Slovenia call for CAP review

Fears of food insecurity caused by the war in Ukraine are leading Slovakia and Italy to call for an adjustment of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) by postponing the policy and reconsidering the EU’s ecological ambitions.

The Slovak and Italian Agriculture Ministers believe that food safety concerns should be addressed by reconsidering the objectives of the Farm to Table and Biodiversity Strategies and suspending certain measures.

The European Commission remains firm on its green ambitions.
