The President of the European Commission, Jean-Claude Juncker, and the members of the College of Commissioners will participate on Wednesday 31 January 2018, at the launch of the European Year of Cultural Heritage in Belgium.
Throughout 2018, thousands of initiatives and events across Europe will engage citizens from all walks of life. The aim is to reach the widest possible audience, especially children and young people, local communities and people who are rarely exposed to culture, to promote a common sense of belonging.
The European Year of Cultural Heritage is funded by the Creative Europe programme, with 201.4 million euro for 2014-2020.
This unprecedented visit by the President and the College of Commissioners bears witness to the excellent relations between the Commission and the City of Brussels, and the commitment and gratitude it wishes to express to the capital.
