Launching of two public consultations in the field of gender equality

The DG Justice has just launched two public consultations on issues relating to gender equality.

The first consultation focuses on Gender imbalance in corporate boards in the EU.
This consultation demonstrates the will of the EU to design a legislative initiative aiming at improving the gender balance within the economic decision-making organs of the EU.
The conclusion of the consultation will permit to evaluate the measures that can be taken at the European level to improve the participation of women in the economic decision-making organs.
Stakeholders can respond to this consultation until the 28th March.

The second consultation concerns the fight against female genital mutilation (FGM) in the EU.
This consultations aims at defining the best ways of combating FGM in the EU.
According to estimations, hundreds of thousands of women and girls established in the EU are reported to have been subjected to such violence.
This consultation is open until the 30th May.
