
Grants for creating more connected, inclusive and efficient innovation ecosystems that support the scaling of companies and spur innovation to address important challenges in a responsible way
Priorities and funded actions
The strand “Innovative European Ecosystems” aims to strengthen the European innovation landscape, connecting all actors – public and private, national and local – in Europe’s innovation ecosystems to expand their opportunities to develop and deploy their products.
Objectives:
- To build interconnected, inclusive innovation ecosystems across Europe by drawing on the existing strengths of national, regional and local ecosystems and encouraging the involvement of all actors and territories to set, undertake, and achieve collective ambitions towards challenges for the benefit of society, including green, digital, and social transitions and the European Research Area;
- To reinforce network connectivity within and between innovation ecosystems for sustainable business growth with high societal value;
- To support the European Partnership on Innovative SMEs, which will help innovative SMEs to increase their research and innovation (R&I) capacity and productivity and successfully embed in global value chains and new markets

Among financed actions:
- Support to joint programmes of innovation activities or business acceleration implemented by national and local actors;
- Mobilisation of specific tools (Horizon Results Platform, Innovation Radar);
- Actions to encourage a harmonised regulatory framework for start-ups in Europe;
- Entrepreneurship education and promotion of international entrepreneurial careers;
- Actions to strengthen access to capital, investment and scale-up, in particular in less developed ecosystems
