Interreg B grants support a wide range of project investments related to innovation, green and digital transition, accessibility, digitalization, urban development, public sector innovation and interoperability, etc.
Priorities and funded actions
Transnational cooperation aims to strengthen cooperation through actions promoting integrated territorial development linked to the Union’s priorities, in full respect of subsidiarity.
Objectives:
- Enhance the institutional capacity of public authorities, in particular those mandated to manage a specific territory, and of stakeholders;
- Enhance efficient public administration by promoting legal and administrative cooperation and cooperation between citizens, civil society actors and institutions, in particular with a view to resolving legal and other obstacles in border regions (where appropriate);
- Build up mutual trust, in particular by encouraging people-to-people actions (where appropriate);
- Enhance institutional capacity of public authorities and stakeholders to implement macro-regional strategies and seabasin strategies, as well as other territorial strategies;
- Enhance sustainable democracy and support civil society actors and their role in reforming processes and democratic transitions;
- Support better cooperation governance.
Priorities:
Each Interreg programme shall consist of priorities. Each priority shall correspond to a single policy objective or, where applicable, to one or both Interreg-specific objectives, respectively, and shall consist of one or more specific objectives. More than one priority may correspond to the same policy or Interreg-specific objective.
Financed actions:
- Innovation, especially networks of universities, research institutions, SMEs;
- Environment and climate change, especially sustainable green and blue economy, water resources, flood management;
- Digital connectivity and sustainable transport;
- Sustainable regional development, especially in terms of education, labour markets and cooperation;
- Cultural heritage and sustainable tourism development;
- Capacity building and governance;
- People-to-people actions and engagement.
