Antibiotic resistance is a global problem for all of us that leads to infections that cannot be easily treated. A global reduction of the resistance of harmful microbes to treatment such as antibiotics will lead to reduced health costs and saved lives.

Objectives

  • To find routes for novel antibiotics and new anti-infectious strategies
  • To validate means to increase the number of patients treated early with the appropriate antimicrobial drugs
  • To provide scientific evidence on ways to reduce the spread of resistant strains
  • To provide scientific evidence on strategies to reduce the number of patients with resistant or MDR strains, at any level of antibiotic consumption
  • To reduce the consumption of antibiotics
  • To develop scientific proposals which will lead to sustainable use of antibiotics to treat infectious diseases
  • To integrate relevant scientific fields across national borders and to create a common Strategic Research Agenda
  • To provide a platform for initiating and coordinating joint actions jointly with Stakeholders

Priorities

– Therapeutics
– Diagnostics
– Surveillance
– Transmission
– Environment
– Interventions

Measures

– Establishing a biobank of clinical specimens and strains
– Establishing a database containing information on on-going AMR research
– Collaborating with stakeholders
– Raising awareness of AMR
