To take into account the Covid-19 pandemic’s lessons and adapt the future EU Health Programme (EU4Health) accordingly, the European Union is launching a public consultation on its future pharmaceutical strategy.
Launched on 16 June, the consultation which will run for three months addresses a number of key themes:
Strategic autonomy and drug manufacturing,Access to affordable medicines,Innovation,Environmental sustainability,Health challenges.
This strategy will be aligned with the future Horizon Europe programme (succeeding the current Horizon 2020) to ensure Europe’s supply of safe and affordable medicines to meet the needs of patients and to support the European pharmaceutical industry. Also it must ensure that it respects the principles of the European Green Deal and increases the EU’s autonomy in the field of pharmaceuticals.
