The European Investment Bank loans 80 million euro for the refurbishment of French middle schools

Sixteen middle schools in the Seine Maritime department will be renovated taking into account climatic conditions. This will reduce by half the energy consumption of the schools concerned as well as their CO2 emissions.

The Seine-Maritime Department has decided to set up this multiannual financing contract with the EIB, within the framework of the “Plan Ambition Collèges 2017-2024”. This Plan was adopted by the Department on 10 October 2016 and is updated regularly to take into account changing needs. This approach is broken down into works, equipment and service operations for the department’s public colleges, which makes it possible to maintain a quality built heritage that meets the educational needs of the territory’s students.

Among the projects included in this plan, the EIB has selected 20 with a total eligible cost of EUR 163 million. These are new construction or major rehabilitation operations, affecting school buildings, adjoining sports facilities or cooking and catering facilities, as well as two cross-cutting operations in favour of public colleges over the period 2020-2024.
