A new framework agreement was signed yesterday between the two institutions, aimed at solving major social challenges including climate change.
The new agreement will promote, simplify and speed up the conclusion of contractual arrangements for the many joint activities in support of good economic governance, sound public financial management, appropriate domestic revenue mobilization, institution building and, more broadly, the implementation of the sustainable development agenda to 2030.
The European Union is, since 2016, the IMF’s leading partner for capacity development. The EU wishes to provide solutions to global problems and affirms its willingness to focus particularly on Africa, especially in terms of digital and climate transition.
Before we know more about the European Green Deal, calls for projects are still open on these issues under the Horizon 2020 programme or development aid for third countries.
