Priorities and funded actions

Objectives

  • To contribute to the respect for fundamental rights and rule of law in the Lao PDR

Priorities

  • Priority 1: to develop capacities of local civil society organisations, including through building advocacy, resilience, networking and strengthening viability and sustainability, in order to support the promotion of human rights, prevent impunity, monitor and report human rights violations, and to increase social accountability and civic participation
  • Priority 2: to raise public awareness of impunity and corruption, and their negative impact on individuals and society, including through the production of specific digital tools, such as videos, drama-series, video-clips and the use of new technologies that would help contributing to public accountability and transparency

Among financed actions

  • Actions promoting the use of digital technology for empowering civil society actors, including women and young people to become more informed about what is corruption and impunity and why it should be ended
  • Actions supporting public awareness raising about Lao anti-corruption legislation and relevant international conventions such as the UN Convention against Corruption
  • Actions supporting the production and broadcasting of legal videos or series related to impunity and human rights, including about the functioning of the Lao judicial system and the importance of lawyers, judges, paralegals and court officials
  • Actions promoting forms of interactions, networking, information-sharing and capacity-building between civil society actors on fighting against impunity, corruption and intimidation, at the national/regional/international levels
  • Actions strengthening civil society organisations’ capacity to monitor, raise awareness of, and promote accountability and fight against impunity though public oversight institutions
  • Actions that support institutional and societal efforts to increase Access to Justice, especially in case of maladministration, corruption, public inefficiencies and malpractices

  • This call for proposals is restricted
  • Initial duration of the action: between 24 and 48 months

Eligibility

  • Be a legal person
  • Be non-profit-making
  • Be civil society organisation,including non-governmental non-profit organisations and independent foundations, community-based organisations, private sector non-profit agencies, institutions and organisations, and networks thereof at local, national, regional and international level
  • Be international (inter-governmental) organisations
  • Be established in any countries with no geographical requirements
  • Be directly responsible for the preparation and management of the action with the co-applicant(s) and affiliated entity(ies), not acting as an intermediary
Financement
  • Total budget of the call: 700,000 euro
  • Amount of the grant: 700,000 euro
  • Cofinancing rate: up to 95% of the total eligible costs
