ARISE Plus Vietnam- Internationalisation of Vietnamese SMEs – 2021

The ARISE Plus Vietnam programme was designed to accompany the trade liberalisation process between the EU and Vietnam. It is a five-year programme (2018-2023) with a total budget of EUR 6.4 million that contributes to the integration of Vietnam's economy into the global production chain through targeted support to both the public and private sectors.

Priorities and funded actions

Objectives

  • To increase exports of high quality products and services from Vietnam to the EU, with a focus on SME internationalisation and sustainable business practices.

Priorities

  • To equip Vietnamese SMEs with the knowledge necessary to boost exports to the EU;
  • To improve quality standards among Vietnamese exporters in line with EU and international requirements;
  • To strengthen linkages between Foreign Direct Invested firms and Vietnamese companies.

Among financed actions

  • Promoting linkages between European owned FDI in Vietnam and local suppliers;
  • Strengthen contacts between Vietnamese SMEs and European buyers/distributors for high quality products;
  • Upgrading market research capacity among Vietnamese SMEs exporting to the EU;
  • Promoting Vietnamese SMEs’ knowledge of rules of origin and capacity to comply with EVFTA requirements;
  • Promoting improvements along the supply chain to meet standards as expected by EU markets;
  • Promoting the adoption of improved quality management systems for export-oriented industries;
  • Actions supporting cross-cutting themes as detailed in the Sustainable Development Goals:
    • job creation with rights at work, social protection and social dialogue;
    • sustainable consumption and production, environmental performance of companies and gender considerations in the workplace.

Additional information

  • This call for proposals is an open call for proposals.
  • Initial duration of the action: between 18 and 24 months.

Eligibility

  • Be a legal person, non-profit making, a business association, an academic institution, a local authority, a Non-Governmental Organisation or an International Organisation;
  • Be established in one of the eligible countries;
  • One of the applicants (lead applicant and/or one co-applicant) must have had a presence in Vietnam for at least 3 years at the time the call for proposals is launched. This obligation does not apply to international organisations.
Financement
  • Amount of the grant: between 200,000 and 800,000 euro.
  • Co-financing rate: up to 80% of the total eligible costs.
