Priorities and funded actions

Objectives

To respect and implement the EU Biodiversity Strategy for 2030
To promote and support transnational biodiversity monitoring across all land and sea habitats by building transnational (pan-European) network

Priorities

Priority 1: innovation and harmonisation of methods and tools for collection and management of biodiversity monitoring data
Priority 2: Addressing knowledge gaps on biodiversity status, dynamics, and trends to reverse biodiversity loss
Priority 3: Making use of available biodiversity monitoring data

Among financed actions

Development for application of new and existing monitoring tools, methodologies and approaches
Improved use of the outputs of monitoring schemes to better understand biodiversity state, trends, pressures and drivers
Reinforcement of modelling and scenarios based on monitoring outputs
Support policy makers, authorities and practitioners concerned with decision making, planning, designing, and managing a broad range of environments
Evaluation of the successes of conservation policies and action

Additional information

This call for proposals is a restricted call for proposals. In first instance, only concept notes will be evaluated
Initial duration of the action: 3 years

Eligibility

Be a legal person
Be a public or private entity
Be a university or a research center
A consortium composed of eligible research partners from at least 3 different countries including at least 2 different EU Member States or associated countries to the programme must be constituted
The call covers research on biodiversity conservation in all territorial, freshwater and marin environment in Europe, the Outermost Regions and Overseas Countries and Territories and across all continents and oceans
Projects are excepcted to integrate research across relevant scientific disciplines, from naturel sciences, technical sciences, social sciences and humanities, and include public and private stakeholders

Financement

Total budget of the call: 40 million euro
Amount of the grant: between 1.2 and 1.5 million euro
