Priorities and funded actions

Objective

To nurture talents, competence and skills and to stimulate cross-border cooperation, mobility and innovation in the creation and production of European audiovisual works, encouraging collaboration across Member States with different audiovisual capacities.

Priorities

  • Priority 1: To support production of innovative and quality TV content and serial storytelling, addressing diverse audiences, by European independent production companies
  • Priority 2: To increase the capacity of audiovisual producers to develop and produce strong projects with significant potential to circulate throughout Europe and beyond, and to facilitate European and international co-productions within the television and online sector

Among financed actions

  • Drama films, animation and documentary presenting strong cooperation, between operators from different countries participating in the MEDIA Strand, including between broadcasters
  • Drama films, animation and documentary presenting high creative/artistic value and wide cross-border exploitation potential able to reach audiences at European and international level
  • Drama films, animation and documentary presenting innovative aspects in terms of the content and the financing that show a clear link with the envisaged distribution strategies

  • This call for proposals is an open call for proposals.
  • Initial duration of the action: 36 months

Eligibility

  • Be legal person
  • Be a public or private entity
  • Be established in one of the Creative Europe Participating Countries
  • Be independent European audiovisual production companies
  • Be established in one of the countries participating fully in the MEDIA Strand of the Creative Europe Programme and owned directly or indirectly, wholly or by majority participation, by nationals from such countries
Financement
  • Total budget of the call: 22 million euro
  • Amount of the grant:
    • For creative documentaries: 300.000 euro per project
    • For animation works: 500.000 euro per project
    • For drama works:
      • 500.000 euro if the eligible production budget is below 10 million euro
      • 1 million euro if the eligible production budget is between 10 million and 20 million euro
      • 2 million euro if the eligible production budget is above 20 million euro
  • Co-financing rate: up to 20% of the total eligible costs

This grant is a lump sum grant.
