Priorities and funded actions

Objectives

  • To promote cross-sectoral activities that aim at adjusting to the structural and technological changes faced by the media, including enhancing a free, diverse, and pluralistic media environment, quality journalism and media, literacy including in the digital environment

Priorities

  • Priority 1: to setup supporting schemes for news media organisations and independent journalism, as well as other capacity building measures

Among financed actions

  • Editorial production, coverage and innovations
  • The development of governance standards and editorial oversights
  • The improvement of distribution and dissemination of news
  • The development and engagement of audiences
  • The development or maintenance of technical tools applying to the above topics
  • Training on the above topics, legal advice and sectorial events

Additional information

  • This call for proposals is an open call for proposals
  • Initial duration of the action: up to 24 months

Eligibility

  • Be a legal person (public or private entity)
  • Be a civil society organisation which is active in the news media sector which:
    • have recent proven experience in implementing media-related activities
    • have recent proven experience in awarding and managing grants/or funds, in particular in the media sector
  • Applications by single applicants are allowed
  • Applications by a consortium of at least 2 applicants are allowed
Financement
  • Total budget of the call: 10 million euro
  • Total budget of the topic: 5 million euro
  • Amount of the grant: up to 3 million euro
  • Co-financing rate: up to 90% of the total eligible costs
