Priorities and funded actions

Objectives

  • To set up and/or develop European media platforms
  • Help news media organisations increase their reach
  • Improve citizen’s access to multilingual and trusted information, procuded under high professional and editorial standards, in as many EU Member States and EU languages as possibles

Priorities

  • Priority 1: Identify specific needs, both from the industrial perspective (the needs of media organisations) and in view of improving the public sphere debate and the offer of trusted information in Europe
  • Priority 2: Increase the variety and diversity of factual content consumed by EU citizens especially by means of new innovative, participatory and/or multilingual formats

Among financed actions

  • Creation, maintenance and enhancement of European media platforms, websites, tools and delivery systems
  • Content handling (mainly journalistic content) across Europe feeding the said platforms, including production, curation, translation, etc
  • Data studies and research directly related to the editorial needs, technical components and audience measurements

Additional information

  • This call for proposals is an open call for proposals.
  • Initial duration: between 12 and 15 months

Eligibility

  • Be a legal person
  • Be a public or private entity
  • A consortium composed of at least 3 entities established in the UE member states, but their content delivery should be available in a minimum, in 5 EU languages
  • Be a news media organisation, a media technology developers, or a organisation active in the media domain
  • Other entities are only eligible as associated partners, subcontractors, third parties giving in-kind contributions, etc
Financement
  • Total budget of the call: 6 million euro
  • Amount of the grant: 2.5 million euro
  • Co-financing rate: up to 80% of the total eligible costs
