Priorities and funded actions

Objectives

  • To sustain and improve existing support and to foster the coordination and consolidation of a pan-European platform or network of media hubs to promote the preservation of a pluralistic media environment
  • To create the conditions for exiled independent media and journalists to work in the EU so that they can continue producing content and distributing it to their audiences without any editorial interference

Priorities

  • Priority 1 – Mapping the specific needs and challenges of independent newsrooms and professional journalists from those countries who have relocated to the Member States
  • Priority 2 – Establishing support networks and fostering coordination between the media hubs, existing networks and the support schemes in several EU Member States to avoid overlaps and provide a more systemic, structured, tailored, efficient and effective financial, material and technical support to the exiled newsrooms, journalists and media workers

Among financed actions

  • Mapping of actual and future needs
  • Actions aiming at the creation and improvement of networks, exchanges of good practices between media hubs and support schemes
  • Training activities for media hubs as well as for media organisations and journalists
  • Financial support to third parties (see section 6), which must be the most significant part of the project

  • This call for proposals is an open call for proposals.
  • Initial duration of the action: between 22 and 24 months

Eligibility

  • Be a legal entity (public or private body)
  • Be a: non-profit organisation (private or public), public authority (national, regional, local), international organisation, research centre
Financement
  • Total budget of the call: 3 million euro
  • Amount of the grant: up to 3 million euro
  • Co-financing rate: up to 95% of the total eligible costs
