Digital Europe – Preparatory actions for the Green Deal Data Space – 2021

The Digital Europe 2021-2027 programme aims to support and accelerate the digital transformation of the European economy, industry and society, to bring its benefits to citizens, public administrations and businesses across the Union, and to improve the competitiveness of Europe in the global digital economy while contributing to bridging the digital divide across the Union and reinforcing the Union’s strategic autonomy, through holistic, cross-sectoral and cross-border support and a stronger Union contribution.

Priorities and funded actions

Objectives

  • To establish a data governance mechanism, with a detailed roadmap on how the data space should progressively develop into a pan-European Green Deal data space, by connecting EU programmes, national, regional and local data ecosystems at EU level.

Priorities

  • Priority 1: Describe how to integrate the various activities contributing to the European Green Deal data space in line with existing policy priorities and existing;
  • Priority 2: Work in partnership with the Data Spaces Support Centre in order to ensure alignment with the European Data Spaces Technical Framework and the rest of the ecosystem of data spaces;
  • Priority 3: Establish links to relevant initiatives under the Green Deal to ensure a user-driven development of the data space, in particular those (e.g. Horizon Europe activities such as the Green Deal Missions) that will provide significant opportunities to test, experiment and up-scale the input to and use of the data space with local partners.

Among financed actions

  • Developpement of a sustainable data governance scheme as well as a blueprint that connects existing national, regional and local data ecosystems and enables public and private stakeholders to access relevant data;
  • Design of a priority list of types of datasets relevant to the European Green Deal strategies and actions plans;
  • Elaboration of a roadmap towards the common European Green Deal data space.

  • This call for proposals is an open call for proposals.
  • Initial duration of the action: between 12 and 18 months.

Eligibility

  • Be legal entities (public or private);
  • A consortium composed of at least 3 independent entities, established in at least 3 different eligible countries must be constituted.
Financement
  • Total amount of the call: 548 million euro
  • Total amount for this topic: 2 million euro
  • Amount of the grant: 2 million euro
  • Co-financing rate: up to 100% of the total eligible costs
