Priorities and funded actions

Objectives

  • To support the creation, expansion and diversification of formal enterprises and decent jobs in the promising and sustainable sectors of Very Small, Small and Medium Enterprises (VSEs, SMEs)
  • Support and strengthen the skills and development of Niger’s private sector support structures

Priorities

  • Priority 1: strengthen the entrepreneurial and management capacities of existing and new SMEs in the regions of Niamey, Maradi and Agadez
  • Priority 2: strengthen the professional, economic and technical capacities of existing and new SMEs in promising sectors (construction, green energy, processing industry, agro-sylvo-pastoral sectors (agri-food/cosmetics/parapharmacy), new information and communication technologies, digital, private education and the green and circular economy) in the regions of Niamey, Maradi and Agadez
  • Priority 3: improving access to finance for SMEs, including seed funds
  • Priority 4: strengthen the skills of Niger’s private sector support structures, including their role in structuring the interests of SMEs on issues related to improving the business climate and promising sectors in the regions of Niamey, Maradi and Agadez

Among financed actions

  • Establishment of a start-up mechanism based on objective criteria, in particular the existence of a promising business plan (the maximum amount of the start-up fund and the objective criteria for granting it should be specified), an order book and a dynamic team
  • Advice and support for companies in their efforts to obtain financing for their activities from banks and investors
  • Development and implementation of training and awareness-raising modules on entrepreneurship for technical and vocational education and training institutions and women producers

Additional information

  • This call for proposals is a restricted call for proposals. In the first instance, only concept notes will be evaluated
  • Initial duration of the action: between 36 and 70 months

Eligibility

  • Be a legal person
  • Belong to one of the following categories of organisations: association, non-governmental organisation, public institution, private sector operator,
  • Be established in the Republic of Niger for at least four years
  • Be established in a Member State of the European Union, in a country of the European Economic Area, in an IPA II beneficiary country, in a developing country and territory
Financement

Total budget of the call: 8 million euro
Amount of the grant: between 2 and 4 million euro
Co-financing rate: up to 95% of total eligible costs
