EIDHR – Support to National (local) CSOs, Democracy Activists and HRDs working on Critical Human Rights and Democracy Issues in Partner Countries – 2021

European Instrument for Democracy and Human Rights (EIDHR) aims to enhance the respect for implementation and observance of human rights and fundamental freedoms in line with international and regional human rights standards, conventions and instruments, and to strengthen their protection, promotion and monitoring, mainly through support to relevant CSOs, human rights defenders (HRDs) and victims of repression and abuse.

Priorities and funded actions

Objectives

  • To improve gender equality through strengthened women empowerment, leadership, participation and voice.

Priorities

  • Priority 1: Increase election awareness, education and participation of women;
  • Priority 2: Increase women leadership as well as economic, legal and political empowerment;
  • Priority 3: Increase voice and capacities of women’s organizations;
  • Priority 4: Increase capacities of women’s organizations to promote peaceful conflict resolution;
  • Priority 5: Improve gender balance in the political decision making.

Among financed actions

  • Community advocacy, dialogue, awareness on women’s empowerment, voice and participation;
  • Promoting the free participation of women in the upcoming general elections;
  • Capacity building for the empowerment of women and strengthening of women’s organizations;
  • Training and capacity building for community leaders, notably women;
  • Establishment of technical working groups aimed at increasing women’s participation in public decision-making.

Additional information

  • This call for proposals is an open call for proposals.
  • Initial duration of the action: between 24 and 30 months.

Eligibility 

  • Be a legal person;
  • Be non-profit-making;
  • Be non-governmental organisation
  • Be directly responsible for the preparation and management of the action with the co-applicant(s) and affiliated entity(ies), not acting as an intermediary.
Financement
  • Amont of the grant: between 300,000 and 325,000 euro
  • Co-financing rate: up to 95% of the total eligible costs
