Priorities and funded actions
Objectives
That Latin American SMEs adopt less polluting and more resource-efficient products, processes and services, while countries adopt more sustainable consumption patterns.
2 components:
* Component 1: Mobilising EU know-how and investment to support the creation of alliances with the private sector in Latin America (Budget 31.250.000 euros, EU contribution 25.000.000 euros with an indicative third party contribution of 6.250.000 euros)
* Component 2: Policy advocacy for effective implementation of core environmental and labour standards. (Budget EUR 8 857 000 EU contribution EUR 8 000 000 with an indicative third party contribution of EUR 857 000)
Priorities
*Priority 1: To help SMEs to reduce the environmental impact of their activities and production, improve resource efficiency and adopt circular economy practices.
*Priority 2: To engage with private and public sector actors in Latin America on the dissemination of innovative sustainable production and consumption practices, promoting joint EU-Latin American experiences and funding.
Among financed actions
* Creating EU-LA business linkages between SMEs, in particular to achieve sustainable growth and job creation in a green and decarbonised economy.
* To provide services to Latin American SMEs that contribute to improve their greening and digitisation transformation.
* Strengthen and support SME networks, e.g. member business associations (BMAs) and business support organisations (BSOs) in the above sense.
* Provide financial assistance to third parties, in the form of EU-LA joint projects, through calls for proposals, with a comprehensive platform for evaluation, monitoring and reporting.
* Contribute to creating a more SME-friendly business environment or improving SME policies towards greening and digital transformation.
* Measures to improve gender equality and youth entrepreneurship in the context of the above actions.
Additionnal information
* This call for proposals is a restricted call for proposals. In first instance, only concept notes will be evaluated
* Initial duration of the action: 36 months
*Eligibility:
– Being a legal person and
– Be non-profit making and
– Be established in a Member State of the European Union or in one of the countries eligible for the Development Cooperation Instrument (DCI): This obligation does not apply to international organisations.
– Be specific types of organisations :
(i) Commercial intermediaries representing small and medium-sized enterprises. These include chambers of commerce, trade, industry and sectoral trade, industry and professional associations, cooperatives, regulatory bodies and agencies promoting trade, investment and business activities as well as sectoral agencies working with SMEs, or
(ii) public bodies (usually investment councils, trade promotion agencies, etc.).
– Be directly responsible for the preparation and management of the action with the co-applicant(s) and the affiliated entity(ies), without acting as an intermediary.
– Actions must take place in Member States of the EU and Latin American countries (in one of the eligible countries of the Development Co-operation Instrument (DCI))
