EIT Manufacturing – Call for Proposals 2023 – Regional Innovation Scheme Activities

The European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) is part of Horizon Europe, EU's key Programme for research and innovation. EIT Manufacturing was established in 2019 with a vision that global manufacturing will continue to be led by Europe, and contributing to make Europe and its manufacturing sector more competitive and sustainable. The EIT Regional Innovation Scheme (EIT RIS) was introduced in 2014 to advance the innovation performance of more countries and their regions across Europe, especially countries with moderate or modest innovation scores as defined by the European Innovation Scoreboard.

Countries eligible to the program:

  • EU Member States: Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Estonia, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain
  • Third countries: Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia, Turkey and Ukraine
  • Outermost Regions: Guadeloupe, French Guiana, Réunion, Martinique, Mayotte and Saint-Martin (France), the Azores and Madeira (Portugal), and the Canary Islands (Spain)

Priorities and funded actions

Objectives

  • To integrate practical experiences into technical and academic training but as well as to reskill and upskill workforce in RIS countries
  • To raise the awarness of young students about innovation in manufacturing, digitalized manufacturing, green manufacturing, as well as career opportunities within the context of modern manufacturing
  • To support innovative solutions relevant to the Call Thematic “AI and digital twins for manufacturing systems”, with special focus –although not restricted- on applying Artificial Intelligence in manufacturing
  • To support especially the transition to Circular Economy in manufacturing in EIT RIS countries, focusing on aspects like zero-defect manufacturing, zero-waste manufacturing, virtualization/dematerialisation, remanufacturing and preventive maintenance
  • To demonstrate how EIT Manufacturing can, in practice, help local players to cover needs such as green and digital transformation piloting activities for SMEs

Priority 1 – Teaching and Learning Factories in EIT RIS countries

Priority 2 – Programs to engage Society and Pupils in EIT RIS countries

Priority 3 – Artificial intelligence at EIT RIS

Priority 4 – Innovating for a Circular Economy at EIT RIS

Priority 5 – Green and Digital ‘twin’ transition for SMEs at EIT RIS countries

Additional information

  • This call for proposals is a two stages call for proposals
  • Initial duration of the action: 12 to 24 months

Eligibility

  • Be established EU Member States or Horizon Europe Associated Country
  • Be part of the EIT Regional Innovation Scheme
