Priorities and funded actions

Objective

  • To build upon the institutional cooperation achieved so far and to further deepen, intensify and expand the effectiveness of this existing cooperation to advance the higher education transformation process towards fully fledged ‘European Universities’

Priorities 

Priority 1 – Develop and implement an integrated long-term joint strategy for education

Priority 2 – Establish a European higher education inter-university ‘campus‘

Priority 3 – Build European knowledge-creating teams (“challenge-based approach”)

Priority 4 – Act as models of good practice to further increase the quality, international competitiveness and attractiveness of the European higher education landscape

Among financed actions

  • Step-by-step approach towards deeper institutionalised transnational cooperation and gradually achieving the long-term ambitious vision for European Universities
  • Agree on joint mission statement that will entail a full joint strategy outlining the longterm vision to drive systemic, structural and sustainable impact at all levels of the institutions
  • Shape the joint work plan of activitiess upported by the design of relevant and efficient common management and governance structures

  • This call for proposals is an open call for proposals
  • Initial duration of the action: 48 months

Eligibility

Be Higher Education Institutions holding a valid Erasmus Charter for Higher Education (ECHE) and entities affiliated to them, including:

  • Higher Education Institutions already involved in deep institutional transnational cooperation, such as those being part of European Universities selected under the 2019 Erasmus+ call
  • Higher Education Institutions wishing to establish new deep institutional transnational cooperation in a new alliance
Financement
  • Total budget of the call: 272 million euro
  • Total budget of the topic “European Universities – Intensification of prior deep institutional transnational cooperation”: 225.6 million euro
  • Amount of the grant: up to 12.8 million euro
  • Co-financing rate: up to 80% of the total eligible costs
