  • Countries eligible for the grant:
    • ACP State;
    • Member State of the OECD.
  • Actions must take place in Malawi in one or more of the 12 ISEM II districts (6 original ISEM demonstration districts and 6 additional districts; Salima, Ntchisi, Mzimba, Rumphi, Lilongwe Rural, Zomba Rural, Blantyre rural, Nsanje, Mulanje, Chiradzulu, Dedza, Mangochi).

Priorities and funded actions

Objective

  • To increase access to secondary education, particularly for female students and students living in vulnerable situations.

Priorities 

  • Develop social support mechanisms that will support female students and students living in vulnerable situations to access, remain and complete secondary school.

Among financed actions

  • Intervention that will reduce drop-outs and improve retention, grades achievement and learning outcomes, such as
    • Creating safe schools that retain girls and vulnerable students by ensuring the establishment of SGBV reporting mechanisms;
    • Formation of supportive peer-counselling structures and building of capacity of the female targeted students in life skills.
  • Develop comprehensive packages for provision of bursary support.

Additional information

  • This call for proposals is a restricted call for proposals. In first instance, only concept notes will be evaluated.
  • Initial duration of the action: between 50 and 52 months

Eligibility 

  • Be a legal person;
  • Be: a non-governmental organisation, a public sector operator, a local authority, an international (inter-governmental) organisation.
Financement
  • Amount of the grant: between 1.5 and 3 million euro
  • Co-financing rate: up to 80% of the total eligible costs for International lead-applicants and up to 95% of the total eligible costs for Malawian lead-applicants
