Priorities and funded actions

Objectives

  • Establish new governance models to define best practice in sustainable water management and conflict mitigation
  • Taking a step towards carbon neutral farms: combining renewable energy sources with circular farming systems
  • Evaluating new antimicrobial food packaging and coating materials to reduce food waste and improve safety in the Mediterranean food supply chain

Priorities

  • Priority 1 – To contribute to water sustainability and security in the Mediterranean region
  • Priority 2 – To develop an integrated farming system using renewable energy to decrease GHG emissions and maximize the use and reuse of wastes and inputs
  • Priority 3 – To explore novel, cost-competitive and versatile biodegradable food packaging and coatings materials with adequate functionalities to control the packaging atmosphere and prevent food spoilage while causing no environmental damage

Among financed actions

  • Activities primarily aim to establish new knowledge and/or to explore the feasibility of a new or improved technology, product, process, service or solution
  • projects may include basic and applied research, technology development and integration, testing and validation on a smallscale prototype in a laboratory or simulated environment
  • All projects will have to include collaborative research

  • This call for proposals is an open call for proposals
  • Initial duration of the action: 36 months

Eligibility 

  • Be a legal entity
  • Be an international European interest organisation
  • A consortium composed of at least 4 entities, established in at least 3 different countries considered as PRIMA Participating States with: at least 1 must be established in an EU Member State or a third country associated with Horizon 2020 and not being an MPC and at least 2 must be established in third countriy/countries bordering the Mediterranean Sea
  • All four legal entities must be independent of each other
Financement
  • Total budget of the call: 36.132.500 euro
  • Amount of the grant: 1.5 million euro
