EIT Climate-KIC is a Knowledge and Innovation Community (KIC), working to accelerate the transition to a zero-carbon, climate-resilient society by identifying and supporting innovation that helps society mitigate and adapt to climate change.

Objectives:

To achieve climate neutrality accross Europe by or before 2050;
To build transformational capabilities associated with large systemic changes needed to meet and exceed European commitments to decarbonisation, circularity, resilience and adaptation to climate change effects, just and inclusive social transformation and environmental regeneration.

- Advanced integration of nature-based solutions into the urban built environment;
- Zero-carbon construction materials;
- Agressive, radical shifts in urban mobility;
- Urban farming;
- Restructured urban economics and capital structures;
- New ways of working and living.
Land-use systems
- Soils and carbon farming;
- Land abandonment;
- Circular approaches for biomass valorisation;
- New biomass models;
- Climate smart land economy;
- Nature-based adaptation;
- Finance and climate de-risking information;
- Monitoring, reporting and verification (MRV) technologies;
- New materials;
- Water reuse.
Circular economy and material systems
- Circular industries;
- Circular transformation;
- Circular communities;
- Circular capacity-building.
Enabling technologies in service of mitigation and / or climate adaptation
- Biomimicry and biotechnology;
- Biophysical capture;
- Green chemistry;
- Artificial intelligence;
- Multi-agent architecture;
- Nanotechnology.

- Just transformation synergies;
- Just resilience;
- Just business models;
- Just industry;
- Just public policy;

This call for proposals is an open call for proposals.
Initial duration of the action: 22 months (March 2022 – December 2023).
