Priorities and funded actions

Objectives

  • To contribute to sustainable and inclusive transformation of food systems in Malawi
  • To have a better preservation, restoration and regeneration of natural resource base and its diverse ecosystems

Priorities

  • Priority 1: Land use planning, coupled with land registration to slow down or reverse the process of farm expansion into forest and marginal lands
  • Priority 2: Planting of fast growing trees on customary land and around Malawi’s Forest Reserves and other protected areas (forest fringes as buffer zones) for biomass, promotion of higher value forest plantations in function of domestic wood industry, promotion of trees on farm land, agro-ecology and agroforestry
  • Priority 3: Enhancing soil and water management across the territory to reduce the speed of water flow, prevent the build-up of large volumes of water, enhance infiltration and prevent sediment loading
  • Priority 4: Financing Sustainable Forest/Natural Resources Management

  • This call for proposals is a restricted call for proposals. In first instance, only concept notes will be evaluated.
  • Initial duration of the action: between 48 months and 54 months

Eligibility

  • Be a legal person
  • Be a specific type of organisation such as: District Councils
Financement
  • Total budget of the call: 10 million euro
    • LOT 1: Northern Region: 3 million euro
    • LOT 2: Central Region: 3 million euro
    • LOT 3: Southern Region: 4 million euro
  • Amount of the grant: between 750.000 and 1 million euro
  • Co-financing rate: between 80% and 95% of the total eligible costs
