Priorities and funded actions

Objectives

  • To improve the life of the urban poor communities in the main urban areas of Pemba island, by promoting urban integrated development, strengthening the climate urban resilience of the built environment and communities, and the provision and access to basic services, adopting a multi-stakeholders approach
  • To promote urban and compact integrated development and improved urban structure and functioning of the target areas, providing upgraded accessibility and connectivity, provision of public and social services for the urban poor communities of Pemba
  • To enhance climate urban resilience improving the provision of and access to basic services and green infrastructure
  • To improve and empower the life of women, girls and target vulnerable groups in the urban poor communities targeting gender-related issues and applying gender-responsive approach in the design and implementation of interventions

  • Priority 1: To plan coherent and impactful interventions
  • Priority 2: To create partnerships with competent authorities
  • Priority 3: To develop a participatory, inclusive, community-driven approach
  • Priority 4: To build green and nature-based solutions in infrastructures and services provision
  • Priority 5: To enhance capacity building

  • Improve the access to public and social services
  • Improve the basic infrastructure provision
  • Develop accessible and inclusive green and public spaces
  • Promote green and climate resilience solutions and use of sustainable materials
  • Improve the local urban governance, participation and decision-making of poor urban communities
  • Actions to empower the beneficiaries’ communities to increase the opportunities for economic development and jobs creation in the management of the urban local facilities and community-based interventions

  • This call for proposals is an open call for proposals
  • Initial duration of the action: between 24 and 36 months

Eligibility

  • Be a legal person
  • Be non-profit-making
  • Be a specific type of organisation such as: non-governmental organisation, a civil society organisation
Financement
  • Total budget of the call: 5 million euro
  • Amount of the grant: between 1.5 and 3 million euro
  • Cofinancing rate: between 75% and  95% of the total eligible costs
