Priorities and funded actions

Objectives

  • To strengthen CSOs as actors of governance and development in their own right in line with the objectives of the CSOs thematic programme MAAP 2021-2024
  • To support CSOs partnerships and dialogue among themselves and with the government at different administrative levels
  • To promote an enabling environment for CSOs in Ethiopia
  • To improve capacity building for CSOs in Ethiopia

Priorities

  • Priority 1 – Peace-building focusing on involvement of women and youth
  • Priority 2 – Capacity building for advocacy skills

Among financed actions

  • Enabling civil society participation in and contribution to policy dialogue on peacebuilding with a special regard to the areas such as youth and gender equality and women’s rights
  • Enabling the active participation of youth and women’s organisations in decision-making processes at all levels, with a special consideration of the peacebuilding process
  • Supporting CSOs contribution to actions aimed at preventing, addressing and mitigating risks and vulnerabilities, including those related to conflict, and in building communities resilience in relation to crisis and promote peace and conflict prevention
  • Supporting CSOs organizational capacity related to internal governance, programme, project and financial management, advocacy, digital tools, etc
  • Supporting CSO sector-specific technical, research, analysis and advocacy capacity

Additional information

  • This is a restricted call for proposals. In the first instance, only concept notes must be submitted for evaluation.
  • Initial duration of the action: between 30 and 36 months

Eligibility

  • be a legal person
  • be non-profit-making
  • be a non-governmental/civil society organization and/or their networks or associations
  • be directly responsible for the preparation and management of the action with the co- applicant(s) and affiliated entity(ies), not acting as an intermediary
  • The lead applicant should meet the following criteria:
    • has demonstrated experience in managing at least one grant contract in Ethiopia with not less than 50% of the contribution requested under this action, in the past five years; before the deadline for submission of the concept note.
    • has demonstrated experience in carrying out activities implemented in at least one of the three regions of action (Tigray, Afar, Amhara) for the past five years; before the deadline for submission of the concept note
Financement
  • Total budget of the call: 1.5 million euro
  • Amount of the grant: between 350.000 and 500.000 euro
  • Co-financing rate: up to 95% of the total eligible costs
