Priorities and funded actions

Objectives

  • To strengthen the engagement and capacity of local civil society organisations (CSOs) as actors for good governance and development at national level
  • To strengthen the capacity of local CSOs to participate in policy dialogue at national level and in the dialogue, implementation and monitoring of European and national development plans and programmes
  • To improve the capacity and ability of local civil society partners to maintain and promote an enabling environment for civil society in Chad
  • To strengthen the capacity of local CSOs to engage in gender equality and youth inclusion, and to build the capacity of local women and youth CSOs

Priorities

  • Priority 1: Initiate and contribute to national policy dialogue on civil society and its contribution to governance and development
  • Priority 2: Ensure civil society participation and contribution to policy dialogue and decision-making processes at all levels
  • Priority 3: Support local civil society contributions to regional and international forums, processes and dialogue platforms
  • Priority 4: Support CSO organisational capacities related to internal governance; programme, project and financial management, advocacy, etc
  • Priority 5: Support CSO capacities in technical areas, research, analysis and advocacy, etc.

Among financed actions

  • Improving local governance and civil society participation at the communal level (batch 1)
  • Development of advocacy to improve the environment for entrepreneurship (lots 1 and 2)
  • Support, through cascading actions of CSO initiatives on the themes of governance, democracy, citizenship, support and accompaniment of CBOs including women by CSOs with a proven local base (lot 1 and 2)
  • Any initiative to stimulate reflection and participation of disabled people’s organisations in local development processes (lots 1 and 2)
  • Capacity building for self-advocacy of disabled people’s organisations for their involvement in local development (lots 1 and 2)
  • Capacity building of local entrepreneurs, organisations and networks to support the development of disadvantaged areas in particular (lot 2)…

Additional information

  • This is an open call for proposals.
  • Initial duration of the action: between 54 and 60 months

Eligibility

  • Be a legal person and be non-profit making
  • Have a proven track record of at least two years in one of the three specific objectives
  • Have the capacity, as evidenced by supporting documents to be submitted, to implement and manage an action of an amount comparable to that of the grant application
  • Have proven experience in the award and management of cascade grants
Financement
  • Total budget of the call :
    • Lot 1 “Promotion of an enabling environment for civil society, fostering democratic governance, the fight against corruption, the participation of civil society (in particular women and youth) in decision-making processes in basic social sectors, peace building and social cohesion”: 1 million euro
    • Lot 2 “Strengthening and amplification of women and youth CSO initiatives for the improvement of inclusive economic and social development”: 1.583 million euro
  • Amount of the grant :
    Lot 1: between 500,000 and 1 million euro
    Lot 2: between EUR 790,000 and EUR 1.583 million euro
  • Co-financing rate: between 90% and 95% of the total eligible costs
