Actions must take place in Turkey and in the following provinces: Ankara, İstanbul, İzmir, Kayseri, Bursa, Erzurum, Adana, Elazığ, Trabzon, Gaziantep, Kilis, Mersin, Karabük, Şanlıurfa, Adana, Malatya,
Kahramanmaraş, Hatay, Diyarbakır, Eskişehir, Mardin, Samsun, Konya and Van.

Priorities and funded actions

Objectives

  • To support access of Syrians under Temporary Protection, Persons under International Protection and host community members to higher education for ensuring that they have the necessary skills to become self-reliant and to contribute to economic growth and development of Turkey.
  • To provide scholarships and related services to support Syrians under Temporary Protection,Persons under International Protection and host community members to enrol, continue and graduate from higher education in pursuing undergraduate/graduate studies.

Priorities

  • Priority 1: to provide scholarships and associated services to SuTP, PuIP and students from host communities pursuing undergraduate/graduate studies
  • Priority 2: to support the access of female students, persons with disabilities and disadvantaged people to higher education
  • Priority 3: to promote social cohesion and inclusion among refugees and host communities
  • Priority 4: to create synergies for reaching the overall and specific objectives of the call, through promoting partnership between public universities, foundation universities, other formal education institutions and non-profit making international and national organisations

Among financed actions

  • Actions providing undergraduate/graduate students with scholarships covering full/partial tuition fees
    or stipends
  • Actions that incorporate innovative community communication and visibility strategies to enable
    outreach to students
  • Actions that include language support such as Turkish language training and English language
    preparatory courses
  • Actions targeting particularly disadvantaged people
  • Actions that support social inclusion and social cohesion, focusing on students as role models and
    bridges between refugee and host communities

Additional information

  • This call for proposals is a restricted call for proposals. In first instance, only concept notes will be evaluated.
  • Initial duration of the action: between 34 and 36 months

Eligibility

  • Be a legal person and be non-profit-making
  • Be a specific type of organisation such as: non-governmental organisation, public sector operator,
    local authority, international organisation as defined by Article 156 of the EU Financial Regulation
  • Be established in a Member State of the European Union or Turkey
Financement
  • Total budget of the call: 20 million euro
  • Amount of the grant: between 5 and 10 million euro
  • Co-financing rate: between 80% and 95% of the total eligible costs of the action
