Priorities and funded actions

Objectives

  • To enhance civil society’s role in promoting political and economic governance reforms that will ensure accountability, transparency and equity in Ghana
  • To promote and protect human rights and fundamental freedoms, and the conduct of peaceful and transparent elections in Ghana
  • To promote enhanced civil society’s engagement in public affairs

Priorities

  • To support the catalytic and watchdog role of CSOs to advocate and promote reforms on accountability and the rule of law in Ghana
  • To support the advocacy role of CSOs for macro-economic reforms that will spur economic stability and growth and trade relations within Africa and with the European Union
  • To strengthen organisations of persons with disability to advocate for the implementation of programmes and policies that will ensure their active participation in the social, economic and political processes in Ghana
  • To empower communities with the knowledge, skills to protect natural resources and strengthening the capacity of communities to improve local management of natural resources and of the environment
  • To support women’s strategic role in politics and economic empowerment, thus promoting inclusiveness and gender equality
  • To support the elimination of child labour and trafficking in the natural resource and environmental sectors such as mining, fishing, etc
  • To promote the respect and protection of human rights and freedoms of vulnerable, marginalised and minority groups
  • To promote enhanced civil society’s individual and collective capacities to participate in the formulation and implementation of Government of Ghana policies and in European Union programmes in Ghana
  • To provide capacity building of CSOs including youth and women organizations in management, communication, fundraising, coordination, networking, and their financial accountability

Among financed actions

  • Actions that will enhance the catalytic and watchdog role of CSOs to advocate and promote reforms on accountability and the rule of law in Ghana
  • Actions that will mobilise CSOs, the citizenry, especially the youth, women, private sector actors, relevant stakeholders, etc.
  • Actions by CSOs that will galvanise the relevant stakeholders, i.e. academia, parliament, private sector, women’s groups, youth, etc
  • Actions that will strengthen the advocacy capacity of persons with disability for their inclusion in the socio-economic and political processes in Ghana
  • Actions that promote the implementation of existing policies on persons with disability to help improve their living conditions
  • Actions that will Empower communities with the knowledge and skills to protect natural resources
  • Actions that will place communities in the lead through enhanced capacity building in advocacy, networking, knowledge acquisition to protect and manage natural resources and the environment
  • Actions that will contribute to the elimination of child labour and trafficking in the natural resources and environment sectors such as mining, fishing, etc
  • Actions that will promote the respect and protection of fundamental freedom and rights of vulnerable marginalised and minority groups in Ghana
  • Actions contributing to the promotion of peaceful, transparent and credible elections in Ghana
  • Actions promoting enhanced civil society’s individual and collective capacities and participation in the formulation and implementation of Government of Ghana Policies and European Union programmes in Ghana

  • This call for proposals is an open call for proposals
  • Initial duration of the action: between 24 and 36 months

Eligibility

  • Be a legal person
  • Be non-profit-making organisation
  • Be a specific type of organisation, such as non-governmental organisation
  • Be established in Ghana or a Member State of the European Union
  • Be directly responsible for the preparation and management of the action with the coapplicant(s) and affiliated entity(ies), not acting as an intermediary
  • Be registered in Ghana by an instrument governed by the national law of Ghana and with an office located in Ghana
  • Have a minimum of two years documented experience implementing projects in relation to the specific priority of the call for proposals
Financement
  • Total budget of the call: 10.270 billion euro
  • Amount of the grant:
    • Lot 1: 7.3 million euro
    • Lot 2: 1.76 million euro
    • Lot 3: 1.21 million euro
  • Co-financing rate: between 50% and 95% of the total eligible costs
