Priorities and funded actions

Objectives

  • To promote and protect human rights, fundamental freedoms, democracy, the rule of law and implementation of Agenda 2030 in China from a rights-based approach
  • To reduce inequality within and among countries and empowering social, economic and political inclusion of all, irrespective of age, sex, disability, ethnicity, origin or economic status
  • To achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls
  • To promote sustainable use of ecosystems, halt and reverse land degradation and biodiversity loss, and combat climate change

Priorities

  • Priority 1: Protecting and empowering individuals to fully enjoy all human rights by all
  • Priority 2: Building resilient, inclusive and democratic societies, by strengthening democratic, accountable and transparent institutions and promoting participatory processes and representative decision-making
  • Priority 3: Harnessing the opportunities and addressing challenges of new technologies
  • Priority 4: Delivering by working together, with civil society’s and their networks contributing to human rights policy dialogues

Among financed actions 

  • Awareness campaigns and innovative (social) media capacity, and defend/ enlarge civic space, in their own right as actors in democratic governance
  • Strengthen organizational capacities of civil society, including advocacy and public awareness, to effectively operate in support of human rights improvements
  • Improve efficiency, quality, accountability, transparency and credibility of justice systems
  • Conduct research in social, legal, environmental practice and trends, research on case studies with dissemination of best practice and for use in training
  • Promoting women’s equal access to – and control over – resources, productive employment, decent work, equal pay and financial services

Additional information 

  • This call for proposals is a restricted call for proposals. In first instance, only concept notes will be evaluated
  • Initial duration of the action: between 24 and 36 months

Eligibility

  • Be a legal person and be non-profit-making
  • Be Civil Society Organisations, including non-governmental non-profit organisations and independent political foundations, community-based organisations, private sector non-profit agencies, institutions and organisations, and networks thereof at local, national, regional and international level
  • Be a public sector non-profit agencies, institutions and organisations and networks at local, national, regional, and international level
  • Be international (inter-governmental) organisations
  • Be established in any country
Financement
  • Total budget of the call: 900,000 euro
  • Amount of the grant: between 300,000 and 450,000 euro
  • Co-financing rate: between 50% and 95% of the total eligible costs of the action
