Priorities and funded actions

Objectives

  • To strengthen CSOs in utilizing relevant platforms that will foster inclusivity, transparency and accountability aimed at enhancing democracy and governance in Guyana
  • To support actions that strengthens Gender Equality & Sustainable Empowerment and Socio- economic advancement of Women and Girls, as well as children rights
  • To create an enabling environment for the protection of human rights, and to strengthen the Capacity and engagement of CSOs in their advocacy and raising public awareness of their human rights and how to seek redress for rights violation

Priorities

  • Priority 1:  Support actions to promote and advance responsiveness and accountability through citizen engagement and full participation of women, youth, vulnerable and marginalised persons in enhancing democracy in Guyana
  • Priority 2: Protecting and empowering individuals and organisations to contribute to the full enjoyment by everyone of all human rights, be they civil, political, economic, social or cultural rights, with a focus on women and children rights
  • Priority 3: Safeguarding fundamental freedoms and addressing the challenges of new technologies to create and maintain an environment conducive to the full exercise of all fundamental freedoms
  • Priority 4: The promotion of equal rights for all and the fight against discrimination based on any ground and, in particular, on sex, social origin, ethnicity, disability or sexual orientation

Among financed actions

  • Actions that will facilitate the establishment of inclusive dialogue platforms with national authorities, opposition and other stakeholders
  • Strengthening public awareness and inclusive debate on the centrality of Human Rights and Democracy in the regulation and use of new technologies
  • Promoting an environment respectful of ideas, views and opinions
  • Increasing citizens and civil society participation in democratic processes and national decision-making processes that ultimately contribute to strengthened governance…

Additional information

  • This call for proposals is a restricted call for proposals. In first instance, only concept notes will be evaluated.
  • Initial duration of the action: between 24 and 36 months

Eligibility

  • Be a legal person or a natural person and be non-profit-making
  • Be established in a Member State of the European Union or Guyana
  • International organisations are NOT eligible, nor can act as co-applicant(s) under this call
Financement
  • Total budget of the call: 348,000 euro
  • Amount of the grant: between 150,000 and 348,000 euro
  • Co-financing rate : between 60% and 90% of the total eligible costs of the action
